Frequently Asked Questions
Here are answers to some of the questions we are often asked. If you have a question about any aspect of our business, please Contact us.
Do you offer a student discount?
As the majority of our customers are students we always try and keep our pricing as competitive as possible. We have a special printing price for students and we also offer a 10% discount on printing for University Societies. We also offer a 25% discount on our standard colour flyer and booklet prices if you choose our 3 day service. T's and C's apply.
Can anyone use your services?
Yes, we accept work from businesses and the general public. At certain busy times of the year, student work (printing & binding of dissertations etc.) will take priority over all other work but we will still aim to produce your work as soon as we can. Two notable busy periods are the 3-4 weeks after the Easter vacation (April/May) and the first 2 weeks of September, but there may be a few other isolated busy spells throughout the year.
Do you collect and deliver?
You can send us your files over the internet easily enough via our Web Upload system. and we can arrange a courier delivery service too. We can also post smaller items. If you already have a courier that you use then you can arrange your work to be collected from us once completed.
Are you open during the university vacations?
Sometimes. We usually close for Bank Holidays and for two weeks over Christmas & New Year. We also close for the Summer and for around a week at Easter. Please see our home page for full details as we sometimes modify our opening times to longer and shorter days based on demand. If we are closed, you can use our partner store MuPrint.com any time we aren't open.
Are you open on weekends?
Not normally. Our usual trading days are Monday to Friday only. Sometimes we may be able to open at the weekend if the demand is large enough.
What is the largest size poster you can print?
The largest size poster we can print is A0. This is 1189mm x 841mm
Do you laminate posters?
We can offer laminating up to A3 size.
Do you do spiral binding?
We offer Comb binding (plastic rings), Wire binding (metal rings) and Metal Channel binding (which can have gold lettering put on the spine) too. There actually is a specific type of binding named 'spiral' but generally most people mean ring binding when they use this term.
Do you do Perfect/Heat/Thermal/Tape binding?
We can't produce these in house but we can arrange thermal binding of documents. This is a 2-3 day service.
Will you be busy on such-a-date and time?
It is impossible to predict with complete accuracy how busy we are at any time of the day. If you have a deadline then you can be certain that other students on your course will have the same deadline too. If they all come to us at the same time then yes, we probably will be busy but this does not mean that we won't be able to do your work. Just try not to leave it to the last minute!
How long does binding take?
Softback - Channel binding is the quickest, Wire binding is the slowest, but all should be done in just a few minutes. Hardback - allow 1-3 days.
Is the paper you use of archive quality?
The paper we use conforms to the ISO 9706 Permanent Paper standard.
How long have you been open?
The business originally opened in April 1988.
Can you print right up to the edge of a sheet of paper?
Normally there would be a small white border around the edge of the prints we can produce borderless if you require it. Your artwork will require a bleed should you choose this option. Please read these guidelines on how to set up your artwork: Guidelines
Have you got any empty boxes?
Usually we do. Feel free to ask if you want them.
