VAT
As a general rule, Value Added Tax (VAT) of 20% must be added to the price of all printed material unless it is specifically "zero rated". If there is any doubt then VAT must be added. Where an item is always subject to VAT ("standard rated"), we will quote the price inclusive of VAT. If an item is always zero rated then we will say so. However, there are many areas e.g. prices for general printing and copying, where the VAT liability is not known as it depends on the content of the item. For example, our Price Calculator will give you the costs both exclusive and inclusive of VAT.
Please note that there are no exemptions for students and educational bodies. Some charity work related to collection of donations can be zero rated; please see the HMRC rules.
