Send filesMinimise problems - Send a PDFMaking a PDF can save a lot of the hassle that people often get when they try to print certain types of files, e.g. Word documents. More information can be found on the Make a PDF page. Please see this list for the programs that we can print from if you are unable to make a PDF. How to send files to usWeb UploadIf you wish to send a file direct to us, please use the Web Upload service. This is ideal for sending single files via a simple web interface, and you can complete the associated form to give us full details of what you require. If you need to send us more than one file, please archive (zip) them beforehand, or consider one of the other options listed below. DropboxIf you are a regular customer or wish to send us several files, especially those that are quite large, you could consider signing up with Dropbox. This not only allows you to send files to us (and other people), but also gives 2GB of free storage that you can access from anywhere on the internet. Windows, Mac and Linux users can use Dropbox in the same way that they copy any other files on their computer and also via a web-based system. You will need to initially register on your own computer but then you can use any compouter connected to the internet, and even your iPhone. Once you have set up a Dropbox account, create a folder with a distinct name e.g. "u-print Your Name", copy the files that you want printing into it, and then share it with us; use contact@u-print.com as the email address. You can give us the instructions there and then or maybe put a text file in the folder to tell us what you need. Full instructions on how to use Dropbox can be found on their website. The links to Dropbox on this page will give both you and us an extra 250MB of space (limited to the first few people only). Uploads from Apple MacintoshIf you are using an Apple Mac, you can easily send us files from the Finder without installing any other software:
Note that if you have to send us something else, the folder must have a different name otherwise you will not be able to copy the folder across to our server. Alternative MethodsYou might want to use one of these other web-base systems to send files. If sending more than one file, you will probably find it easier to archive (zip) them first. Use contact@u-print.com as the recipient's email address. Please note that the above information is provided as is; we have no affiliation with any of these sites and we cannot offer any advice or support on using them. We do not normally recommend that you send files via email (see below for explanation). However if you cannot use one of the services above, files can be sent as an email attachment to contact@u-print.com. There is a 25MB limit per email for attachments. However, when a file is sent as an attachment it is encoded by the email system which increases its size, therefore the practical working limit is lower at about 18MB - possibly more, possibly less depending on the attachment itself. Please make alternative arrangements if your file is close to or over this limit. Problems with Sending Files by EmailEmail used to be reliable; messages could be sent around the world in seconds. However, the explosion in junk email or 'spam' can often overload email servers, disrupting the smooth transmission of messages or even blocking them altogether. The measures that ISPs and companies put in place to deal with junk email can also introduce delays and blockages. Another problem has been created as computers become more powerful and broadband is more widespread, so files that people send as attachments have massively increased in size. As emails tend to travel from sender to recipient via any number of servers in between, the likelihood of a delay somewhere along the line - especially with the junk email mentioned problem - is high. |
