The Barnes Wallis Building (Students' Union, building 9 on the University of Manchester campus map) is in the middle of the Sackville Street Campus (formerly UMIST), which is on Sackville Street between the Mancunian Way (A57M) and Whitworth Street. The entrance to the Students' Union is on the lower level of the campus; if you're at the same level as the railway viaduct you need to use the steps that lead down to the landscaped area (near Archimedes). Parking is available on Whitworth Street or the multistorey carpark on Charles Street. Vehicles are allowed onto campus for collections and deliveries; please ask at the security Gatehouse opposite the NatWest bank on Sackville Street.
The nearest railway station and Metrolink tram stop is Manchester Piccadilly; we are just 5 minutes walk from the Fairfield Street entrance: cross Fairfield Street then London Road; into Granby Row (Bulls Head on the right); first left into Echo Street and then right at the barrier just after the railway viaduct; walk down the slope in front of you (not the one on your left), then turn left at the bottom; you are now in front of the Barnes Wallis Building. Or you can use the 147 Oxford Road Link bus service.
If you need a postcode for your satnav or route planner, please use M1 3NL. This will take you to the Gatehouse on Sackville Street. Do not use M13 9PL as this is for the University of Manchester at Oxford Road

147 Oxford Road Link bus service
If you are located on the South Campus or coming from Piccadilly railway station, take the 147 Oxford Road Link bus and get off at the railway viaduct (near the Gatehouse & NatWest Bank) on Sackville Street. Then go 100m down the campus Service Road next to The Gatehouse and the Barnes Wallis Building is on your right in front of the landscaped area.
